Arcana Cordis: black and white poetic oracle deck | by Chase Voorhees

Arcana Cordis is a 79-card Oracle combining black and white photography with words: some of it came from author's lived experience; some arrived as pure phrase, meaning unclear, insisting on a place in the work regardless. There is no guidebook - words live directly on the cards.

The artwork was made in layers, painting digitally and physically and compositing the results together, texture upon texture. The technique was not predetermined. It was arrived at slowly, through experimentation, until the images began to feel like themselves.
